Chicken Island

Chicken Island, also known as Koh Gai or Koh Gai Leh, is a small but iconic island located in the Andaman Sea near Ao Nang in the Krabi Province of Thailand. The island gets its peculiar name from a rock formation that looks like the head and neck of a chicken. This distinctive limestone formation is a popular spot for visitors to take amusing photographs, creating a unique and memorable experience.

The island is part of the famous Four Islands group, which also includes Tup Island, Poda Island, and Phra Nang Cave Beach. These islands are known for their stunning natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and abundant marine life. Chicken Island is particularly renowned for its powdery white sandy beaches and vibrant coral reefs, making it a favorite destination for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.

 

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Chicken Island, along with other islands in the Krabi region, is during the dry season, which typically spans from November to April. This period offers the most favorable weather conditions, making it ideal for exploring the islands and engaging in various outdoor activities.

To get to Chicken Island, you would typically need to take a boat from the mainland or nearby islands in the Krabi region of Thailand.
