Koh Som

Koh Som, an uninhabited island just 700 meters from Koh Samui, boasts enticing stretches of white sand beaches. Accessible by a short boat ride from Samui’s Pier. Despite its modest size compared to nearby Koh Samui, Koh Som is a popular destination for private sunset cruises and longboat rides. The island’s shallows attract fishing boats, indicating excellent snorkeling opportunities.

How to get there

The journey to Koh Som is by hiring a Speedboat or longtail boat. These can often be arranged from nearby piers on Koh Samui. The journey is typically short, taking only a few minutes and many tour operators on Koh Samui offer boat tours or excursions that include a visit to Koh Som.

Naval Base Koh Samui

  • Sailing Catamaran 10 – 20 minutes
  • Speedboat 5 – 10 minutes
  • Longtail boat 5-10 minutes



Choengmon Pier

  • Sailing Catamaran 10 – 20 minutes

Sea Kayaking

  • Rent a kayak and paddle around the island to explore its coastline and hidden coves.

Fishing

  • Some local operators may offer fishing excursions, allowing you to try your hand at catching some local fish.

Cultural Exploration

  • Visit local villages to experience the culture and traditions of the people living on the island.

Hiking or Nature Walks

  • If there are hiking trails on the island, take a walk to discover the local flora and fauna.

Programs commence in the half day morning or half day afternoon is taking time around 4-5 hours and Full day program is taking time around 8 hours. 

Sunset Program

Sunset Cruise 2.5 hours 

Starting at 4.00pm. – 6.30pm.

  • 16:00 hrs. Sailing for sunset at the sea
  • 18:30 hrs. Return to the pier 

Half Day Program

Half Day Program – Arrival at Koh Som

8:00 am / 12:00 PM

  • Arrive at Koh Som. Enjoy a leisurely lunch on the boat or have a beach picnic on Koh Som’s shores.

10:00am / 2:00 PM

  • Explore the beaches and take a dip in the clear waters around Koh Som.

12:00 / 4:00 PM

  • Set up for an afternoon of snorkeling. Koh Som is known for its fantastic underwater scenery.

Full Day Program

Full day 8 hours 

8:00 AM

  • Depart from a designated pier in Koh Samui. Ensure that all safety protocols are covered and receive any necessary briefings from the boat charter.

9:00 AM

  • Arrive at Koh Som. Begin the day with snorkeling and swimming in the crystal-clear waters.

11:00 AM

  • Explore the beaches of Koh Som and enjoy some relaxation on the shores.

12:30 PM

  • Lunch on board or on the beach, with the option of a beach picnic.

2:00 PM

  • Depart from Koh Som and set sail for another nearby island (e.g., Koh Phangan or Koh Tao).

3:30 PM

  • Arrive at the second island. Engage in water activities, such as snorkeling or kayaking.

5:30 PM

  • Cruise around the second island to enjoy the scenic views and capture the sunset.

7:00 PM

  • Begin the return journey to Koh Samui.

8:30 PM

  • Arrive back at Koh Samui. Consider having dinner at a local restaurant or enjoy a meal on board.
